On December 16, 1942, Sergeant Tom Hutchings of Peterborough, England was hanged for murder on a scaffold erected in the yard of the Charlotte County Courthouse. His was the last hanging in St. Andrews. There were those who felt that an innocent man had been hanged. Hear the story of his trial, and see the new display of the gallows platform, with the trap door and the handle that the hangman pulled to plunge him to his death.
